From May 31 to June 8, a vocational education delegation organized by the China Education Association for International Exchange (CEAIE) visited Brazil and Peru. The mission aimed to strengthen the BRICS Vocational Education Alliance and foster vocational education cooperation with both Latin American nations, including the promotion of Luban Workshops. Yang Shiheng, Deputy Party Secretary and Chairman of the Labor Union at YRCTU, represented the university as part of the delegation.

In Brazil, the delegation attended the BRICS Vocational Education Alliance Conference and a related symposium, engaging with counterparts from Brazil, South Africa, India, and Russia to chart the future of vocational education cooperation. While there, they also took part in the China-Brazil University Rectors’Forum and visited key institutions, including theNational Service for IndustrialTraining(Serviço Nacional de Aprendizagem Industria, SENAI), the Federal Institute of Brasília (IFB), and the University of Brasília.

In Peru, the delegation was warmly received by Minister of Education Morgan Quero at the Ministry of Education. Yang Shiheng introduced YRCTU’s history and highlighted the extensive experience and significant achievements of its overseas Dayu School. He expressed YRCTU’s eagerness to use technical and skilled talent training as an entry point for establishing partnerships with Peruvian universities and vocational colleges. This collaboration, he added, would involve joint efforts with Chinese enterprises in areas like curriculum development, staff training, and collaborative research. The delegation also visited the National University of San Marcos, where they co-hosted a China-Peru Vocational Education Cooperation Symposium. The event brought together Peruvian university presidents, representatives from Chinese enterprises, and officials from the Chinese Embassy in Peru for lively and in-depth discussions on faculty and student mobility and the international integration of industry and education.

Aligned with the 12th Meeting of BRICS Ministers of Education, the visit provided significant impetus for pragmatic cooperation within the BRICS framework. It played a key role in advancing the spirit of the China-CELAC Forum by strengthening vocational education and industry ties between China, Brazil, and Peru. For YRCTU, the trip broadened its international presence, opening new avenues for the development of its overseas Dayu Schools and expanding its vocational education partnerships in Latin America.
