Delegation from UK’s City of Glasgow College Visits YRCTU

On June 27, YRCTU welcomed a delegation from City of Glasgow College, UK. The delegation was led by Assistant Principal William Thomson and included Jane McConnell, Dean of the Faculty of Art and Design, and Alistair Burnett, Associate Dean. They were warmly received by Party Secretary Zhou Baoping, President Hu Hao, Vice President Jian Haoran, and heads of the Liaison and Cooperation Department, the School of Art and Design, the School of Electrical Engineering, and the School of Mechanical Engineering.

Zhou Baoping welcomed the delegation and gave an overview of the university’s profile and its achievements in internationalization, highlighting the successful educational partnerships between YRCTU and UK institutions. She emphasized that as prominent representatives of Eastern and Western civilizations, both China and the UK share rich histories and deep-rooted educational traditions. She noted that the two institutions have complementary strengths and aligned needs in education and research. She expressed her hope that this partnership would jointly advance innovation in vocational education and build a bridge for mutual learning between the two cultures.

President Hu Hao expressed his hope that the two institutions would leverage their respective educational strengths to collaborate in areas like international talent development, joint research, and cultural exchange. He proposed building a sustainable partnership through resource integration and institutional innovation, aiming to foster a multi-faceted, in-depth, and high-quality collaboration.

William Thomson thanked YRCTU for its warm hospitality and provided a detailed overview of City of Glasgow College’s history, academic programs, and student development model. He conveyed a strong interest in deep collaboration with YRCTU, hoping to use this visit as an opportunity to solidify the foundation for their partnership and promote substantive exchange.

The two sides then held in-depth discussions on joint program development, student exchanges, collaborative research, and cultural initiatives.

During their visit, the delegation toured the labs and training centers of the School of Art and Design, the School of Mechanical Engineering, and the School of Electrical Engineering, expressing high praise for the university’s educational achievements.
