From July 3 to 12, Yellow River Conservancy Technical University (YRCTU) successfully hosted a professional development workshop for 16 faculty members from KIMYO International University in Tashkent.

The program was meticulously designed by the university to integrate professional training with cultural immersion, leveraging its unique expertise and resources to meet the specific needs of the Uzbekistani faculty. It featured a series of lectures on topics such as Yellow River governance techniques, the history of Yellow River civilization, and Mandarin Chinese. The academic components were complemented by a variety of cultural activities, including hands-on experiences with traditional arts and field visits to key sites along the Yellow River, allowing participants to gain a multi-faceted and in-depth understanding of Chinese civilization and the rich cultural heritage of the Central Plains.

Throughout the workshop, the visiting faculty engaged in skills training at YRCTU’s practical training facilities, enhancing their professional expertise through a combination of theoretical seminars and hands-on application. The university also organized a joint academic seminar, creating a valuable bridge for professional dialogue between educators from both nations. The participants stated that the workshop not only advanced their professional capabilities but also deepened their understanding and appreciation of Chinese culture. They pledged to apply the knowledge and experiences gained in China to promote further educational cooperation and to serve as cultural ambassadors fostering the friendship between the two countries.

The workshop concluded with a closing ceremony on the afternoon of July 11, held in Room 502 of Training Building 7 and presided over by Lei Heng, Dean of the School of Hydraulic Engineering. During the ceremony, Ji Yao, Director of the Liaison and Cooperation Department, recapped the 10-day workshop. Looking to the future, he proposed a cooperative vision for the two universities centered on “establishing one core mechanism, implementing two key programs, and advancing three types of collaboration.” He expressed his hope that the partnership’s achievements would have a broader regional impact and provide sustained impetus for the development of education in both China and Uzbekistan. Abdudzhamilova Muradovna, Head of the Office of Academic Affairs at KIMYO International University, extended her gratitude for the university’s meticulous arrangements. She noted that the program offered a deep appreciation for both the vibrancy of Chinese vocational education and the profound depth of Chinese culture. She looks forward to expanding practical cooperation in areas such as talent cultivation, student and faculty exchanges, and joint research. Following the remarks, representatives from both institutions jointly unveiled plaques for the newly established “Faculty Training Base” and “Student Study Tour Base.” The ceremony concluded with the presentation of training certificates to the participating Uzbekistani faculty.

In recent years, YRCTU has placed a high priority on educational exchange and cooperation with countries along the “Belt and Road.” The university has established “Dahe Workshop” in Uzbekistan and other nations, and has partnered with educational authorities and universities in Russia and Indonesia to host the “Walking through the Central Plains, Experiencing the Yellow River” series of cultural exchange events. These initiatives have significantly enhanced the university’s international influence and helped present a more authentic, multi-dimensional, and comprehensive image of China to the world.
